EXTRACT: CH 36 Loops

Catherine May sat at the empty dining room table in the quiet hall with her bug-eye sunglasses protecting her from the glare. Untouched silver cutlery surrounded her together with a rainbow-cocktail of antidepressants. A pot of fresh tea steamed as it drew. Motionless oaks partially obscured her view of the mountain. The matron’s shoes traversing the parquet foyer, clunked across the large echoing void, unnoticed in the humdrum. Large wooden doors rambled onto a slumberly patio where patients read and played bridge beneath umbrellas standing guard. The pristine garden, its perfectly manicured kikuyu, stretched out luxuriously, but she preferred sitting indoors, alone.
